 The
story of Muscat Pharmacy is a remarkable chronicle of
entrepreneurship
& dedication of its founders, who established it as a Partnership
in 1968 in response to the perceived national needs and aspirations.
The aim of the partnership was to import, sell & distribute
medicines and pharmaceuticals in order that the medicines become
readily available which otherwise would have to be imported when
needed. From October 25, 1997, the legal form of the Company was changed & the general partnership was converted into a Limited Liability Company. The change is duly incorporated in the corporate documents and registered on the Commercial Register at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, as required by law. Muscat Pharmacy and Medical Services The name Muscat Pharmacy is synonymous with medical services in the Sultanate, often referred to as the "Boots of UK in Oman." Muscat Pharmacy LLC has taken the lead in helping provide life-saving drugs, medications, hospital equipment, laboratory equipment and chemicals for the healthcare services in the Sultanate. These have, quite often, literally made the difference between life and death for the people of Oman. With the second largest land area of the countries of the Gulf, the Sultanate of Oman poses certain unique problems of distribution. Ensuring prompt supply of drugs and equipment to remote locations over difficult terrain is an obvious challenge. Being delicate in nature, some of these medical materials require special handling - especially in the face of the extreme climatic conditions prevalent throughout the year. Our Medical Field Staff have taken the lead in successfully contending with these challenges. They have taken upon themselves the responsibility to consistently providing the needs of the large number of pharmacies spread all over the country with medicines and other items when required, including over 55 outlets of our own. Towards this end, Muscat Pharmacy maintains a fleet of refrigerated vans that provide controlled temperatures for medical supplies in transit. Even the smallest of our outlets has to maintain stringent storage standards, as per directives laid down by the Ministry of Health (MOH). These outlets also comply with the strict norms of hygiene laid down by MOH. Only professionally qualified and experienced staff man the counters of our outlets, who serve the customers with our customary courtesy and care. In keeping with requirements for ISO certification, complaint / suggestion forms are kept available for the use of both staff and customers at these outlets. When the 30-bed Al-Shatti hospital first opened its doors to patients, Muscat Pharmacy opened its first 24-hour retail outlet there for the convenience of hospital patients and those close to the capital's first private hospital. A tradition of service continued by our Ruwi Main Branch (opposite the police station) which is now open 24 hours daily to meet the requirements of medicines, day and night.
