SAHARA HOSPITALITY CO. ("SHC") is an Open Joint
Stock Company ("S.A.O.G.") having 2,333,333 shares
(representing 40% of it's issued share capital of 5,833,333 shares
with a face value of R.O. 1.000 each) held by public investors,
listed in Muscat Security Market and with shares traded in the third
market. The current legal status of S.A.O.G. has been converted
from Closed Joint Stock Company, which was the transformation of
a consortium of founder shareholders.
 The
main objective for which the company has been set up is to finance,
build, own and operate Permanent Accommodation for Contractors ("PACs")
of Petroleum Development Oman ("PDO"), primarily
at Fahud and Nimr, an innovative theme developed by PDO with a view
to provide an even standard of living for PDO Contractors'
personnel at it's interior locations as enjoyed by own staff. All
services to the residents and visitors at the PACs are and
have been provided by a founder shareholder from the beginning,
as governed by a fixed long term agreement.
 SHC
was awarded a contract on BOO (Build, Own and Operate) basis
for two PACs, one each at Fahud and Nimr. The contract is
for an indefinite period. The PAC at Fahud consists of 384
rooms and that at Nimr 264 rooms built on landscaped plots of land
in the desert and convertible to accommodate single, double or triple
occupants per room, having all facilities expected of a comprehensive
accommodation package, to mention a few, residential rooms, communal
rooms, library and reading rooms, recreation center, gymnasium,
stores, modern kitchens, dining halls, bakeries, laundries, medical
clinic and laboratories, ambulance services, indoor and outdoor
sports facilities.
 The
commercial operation of both PACs commenced on September
1, 2000 as per contract terms and continues complaint free, strictly
adhering to Health, Safety and Environment ("HSE")
and Hygiene policies.
After witnessing the progressive achievements during the short term
of commercial operations, the project is seen lucrative and the
investors could benefit from this type of investments in the long
run.
